This GasOne "Portable Gas Stove" works well! We already own the slightly larger GASONE Portable Gas Stove CSA Approved With Free Carry Case (see my comparison picture in "Customer Images"), but wanted this smaller stove to store with our emergency kit. Here are my observations: Setup - 1) Remove unit from plastic hard case 2) Open fuel storage cover 3) Insert fuel canister (we used GasOne Butane Fuel Canister (12 Pack)) so stove stud fits in "collar notch" (easier than it sounds, see my pictures in "Customer Images) 4) Press down the "Lock" lever 5) To turn on the stove, turn the temperature dial all the way counter-clockwise and it will self... I am on this page because I just bought one of these ... and I'm here to buy another one. My experience mirrors the review with the list of numbered comments. I bought my first one to put on my sailboat (original equipment was an alcohol stove, then a Coleman propane, but I like this butane stove even better for every reason expressed in the earlier review). The ONLY downside to these fabulous little burners (considering what they are, remember, UNDER $15.00 DELIVERED!) is that fuel is still a challenge in many areas. Recommendation #1: Decide where you will buy the fuel first! Then buy the stove, and then buy the fuel. I checked it out on eBay. Because fuel must be shipped HazMat the cost of shipping really raises the cost of the fuel. Buy it in 12 or 24 packs and the cost gets reasonable quickly. "Problem" is, these little beauties are so efficient that a 12-pack will last a LONG time. But as an emergency back-up is that a problem... The cases are very flimsy, and one arrived cracked. Both stoves lit on the first try with a very hot, near invisible flame. Butane canisters went in place easily. I took off one star for construction quality, while acknowledging that at this price point this is a FANTASTIC stove that I would highly recommend. The case will be the weak point for long-term use, and the mechanism that locks/unlocks the butane canister feels like it may also be a weak point. That said, I would buy these again at the $14 price. Note: I also bought the slightly more expensive GasOne butane stove ($17ish) that comes in a carrying case within a cardboard box. The construction of that stove is definitely better as is the carrying case. Re: butane canisters...many people have noted how difficult they are to find at a decent price. The sterno butane canisters sold at Sams Club online work great in this... Read more |
